Event Details: 12/02/08 Description: The EEA is conducting interviews with 50+ ocean stakeholder groups (begun on 10/14 and continuing through December, 2008). The primary purpose of this significant endeavor is to collect stakeholder input (their issues of concern, planning process issues, suggestions for the planning process and potential benefits of the MA ocean plan) and to mine additional relevant data (e.g., location of historical fishing grounds, ID of critical species habitat, etc.). 12/03/08 Description: From 9/18 through 10/30, the EEA hosted 18 public listening session, the results of which were compiled and summarized by a MOP contractor (Consensus Building Institute). This summary report was presented to the OAC for their consideration while developing the specific planning objectives required to meet the 15 Principles prescribed by the Oceans Act of 2008. 12/08/08 (1:00-4:00pm) Description: This EEA meeting of the Science Advisory Council is convened to evaluate/discuss the science baseline assessment (for MA ocean management planning) which was collectively created by this panel over the preceding three months. Additionally, the SAC will discuss the draft EEA Workgroup reports to ascertain if any additional, readily available data should be considered for inclusion at this point in time. 12/09/08 (10:00-3:00pm) Description: This meeting was convened to review the status and key findings of products developed by the MOP planning frameworks team and to begin the process of integrating this knowledge with information being produced by the EEA ocean planning team, the SAC, and EEA workgroups into potentially applicable ocean planning framework options for Massachusetts. 12/11/08 (1:00-4:00pm) Description: This EEA-convened meeting of the Ocean Advisory Commission will provide: an update on the MA ocean management process with an outline of the immediate next steps; a discussion of the input from 18 public listening session and nearly 50 stakeholder group interviews; draft ocean management planning goals and objectives; and introductory components of ocean-use compatibility analysis. 12/17/08 (9:00-12:30pm) Description: The goal of this meeting was to develop a “final” set of planning framework options and recommendations for their potential use by the EEA planning team in Massachusetts. These results will be used to inform an EEA-convened working session to be held in early January.
12/17/08 (2:00-4:30pm) Description: This is the regular meeting of Massachusetts Ocean Partnership Governing Board which is designed to provide status updates on numerous MOP sponsored projects including our science program, communication, and administrative activities and plan future events/activities.
12/17/08 (4:45-7:00pm) Description: This gathering is an informal opportunity for MOP board members, staff, members of the EEA planning team and contractors to discuss project accomplishments to date and make plans for the near term milestones. Related Information:
